Chevrolet Volt March Sales Update

Volthighway2The Volt had its strongest sales month to date in March, with sales of more than 2,000 vehicles. Sales nearly doubled from January to February and that trend continued into March. This is positive sales growth and we're very pleased with the potential with the California market, where low-emission package Volts can now be driven in HOV lanes.

Also, sales of 12 General Motors vehicles that get an EPA estimated 30 mpg or better on the highway, including the Volt, are expected to reach 100,000 units or more in March, the highest total in company history.

We would like to thank you for your continued support and interest in the Volt.

BMW is known as one of the best reputed brand all over the world. The new Chevrolet Volt takes forward everything you expected from the earlier model. this car has neutral steering, weight shift to rear driven wheels, superior braking with less rear wheel hop, possibly less body roll and greater overall performance.

I have sold cars for 25 years for General Motors franchise's and this is absolutely the best vehicle they have ever produced.
Every customer I introduce to a Volt is absolutely wow'd by this vehicle's technology and capability, not to mention how fun it is to drive. And if they commute less than 40 miles to work they could potentially never have to buy gasoline. My $200.00 dollar a month fuel bill has been eliminated by adopting Volt as my primary dailey driver. I can't wait to see how this car and technology evolve over the next 5-10 years. What a game changer!!

Driving a Volt is the most fun I have had driving a vehicle in my lifetime(I'm 70 years old). Once anyone test drives a Volt, they will also feel the pure pleasure of EV driving.

I just bought my 2012 Red Chevy Volt and I am learning from the module in the car how to drive more efficiently. This car is going to save me 22K $ over the six years I financed it. It is an awesome car and extremely fun to drive. I am looking forward to the development of this product over the ensuing years to see how much better it can be. Bye bye big oil, another slave emancipated.

Quick question...How much of the $7500 tax credit does one get if they sign up for a 36 month lease??? Does the credit go towards the down payment or is it used to calculate the monthly lease?? Thank you...Kevin!!!

My two sons and I own Volts! Thousands of miles are being driven on electric!
Gasoline purchases are rare! I've driven over five thousand miles in my VOLT
And used only 9 gallons of gas since mid September of 2011. People stop and
Ask about this vehicle and are amazed when I tell them how great it performs.
I'm having as much fun driving as I did when I began driving my first VW bug
Back in 1963! Come on GM, you need to put my boys and I in a commercial.

I leased mine in January. Traded in my Prius. What a car! over 3100 miles on it and still haven't put gas in it yet. still have a quarter tank. I took it ferom Phoenix to Prescott through the back way up the mountains.a 250 plus trip during this tank. the thing was great in the mountains. I got 49.9mpg on that trip. I have solar panels on my house, so the sun is powering my car. I'll probably get gas in June. Just think if a lot more people drove these cars, what would the gas companies do? Steve my payments are less than my prius by 20.00 a month. If you drove one You might be swayed.

Purchased one beginning of March. I LOVE THIS CAR!
Until we bought this car, my wife and both drove Lexus brand cars. Since we bought the Volt we no longer want to drive our Lexus cars. They just seem so old fashioned. We are getting about 50 to 55 miles on a charge around town and 40 to 45 on the highway. This has exceeded our expectations:) You have to love the flat florida roads. My only complaint is when the aerodynamic flapper in the front scratches the pavement when the road has a dip. Would love to buy another when the range can get closer to 100 miles on a charge...hope it can be done soon:)

I continue to be amazed at the lack of understanding about the Volt. If you factor in the current incentives, (7,500 tax credit, free 220 amp. charging station with 1/2 of the installation reimbursed, cheap financing) come on, your in the price range of most other hybrids. Yet no other hybrids have the economy, styling, and edge on technology of this vehicle. I resented GM for the government bale out and swore I'd never own another GM product. But guess what? I'm eating my words. It would have been a shame to have an American company fail when it was on the brink of introducing a technology that conscientious consumers have been waiting for and that might just save the world. The odometer says 2,500 miles and I'm still on the first tank of petrol. The tank only holds 9 gallons by the way. My neighbor just took delivery on his Volt. I'm all in, and selling Volts every chance I get. Johnny R (Austin, TX)

I think to continue this success, GM/Chevy needs to continuing offering the 0% 60 month deal and the Low emission package (AT-PZEV) in California. My local Chevy dealer are finally selling those like hot cakes when both of those deals came out. It was GM's mistake for NOT offering that initially. As long as those deals are available, Volt sales should increase from here. I can't even get one for another 8-10 weeks.

I am surprised that GM/Chevy has not tried to specially market the Volt to previous EV1 lessees. All EV1 lessees were passionate about their EV1s and were self-selected early adopters of advanced technology cars. Many EV1 lessees were also very reluctant to give back their cars and had negative feelings for the old GM (the bankrupt one) when they had to give back their wonderful cars to be destroyed. I know - I was a EV1 lessee. But, Chevy could do much to reverse that attitude and in turn recruit up to 600+ avid promoters of the Volt with some special marketing and/or incentives for previous EV1 lessees. I hope GM still has the EV1 lessee list.

@GM - why don't you release this info on Chevrolet Voltage first? Also, why tie it to the extra week closure?
